After we obtain the approval letter for you, we will forward you a copy by email. Copies of the same document will be forwarded on your behalf to Vietnam Immigration checkpoints at International Airports only. When you arrive in Viet Nam, the Immigration officers will have those documents ready and will be able to issue your entry visa quickly.
At the airport, the corresponding authority will verify the details on the approval letter based on your passport and travel documents. As long as you make sure you input the correct details when applying, you will surely be granted entry upon arrival in Vietnam with the approval letter.
Q:8. What if I change my flight and arrive at another airport in Vietnam?
A.8: Visa on arrival works if you arrive at any of the three international airports: Tan Son Nhat (in Ho Chi Minh City); Noi Bai (in Hanoi) and Da Nang (in Da Nang). There is no problem with switching between these three airports.
Q:9. The name on my passport does not match the name on my ticket. Will this be a problem?
A.9: For many reasons, which include security issues, you may be denied boarding if your travel documents and tickets have different names.
Q:10. Is the same rate applied to everyone?
A.10: Yes, the same fees are applied to anyone who uses our service.
Q:11. What is the difference between “single-entry” and “multiple-entry” visas?
A.11: A single-entry visa may only be used for one entry for the specific purpose for which it was granted.
Multiple-entry visa: The stay may either be continuous or spread over several visits within the validity periods of the visa, but no more than the number of entries authorized by the visa. You can apply for this type of visa in case you would like to enter Cambodia, Laos, China or any other country from Vietnam and then re-enter without having to apply for another single visa.
Q:12. Can I use this approval letter for entering Vietnam by land?
A.12: No, this type of visa is applicable to air travel only. Three international airports in Vietnam that you can get your stamp with this approval letter are: Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) and Danang Airport.
Q:13. Who need Vietnam visa?
A.13: Only citizens of certain countries can visit Vietnam without an entry visa. Those countries include: most citizens of ASEAN countries are no need Vietnam visa for visit Vietnam within 30 days; citizens of Korea, Japan & Scandinavians (Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland passport holders) are no need Vietnam visa for visit Vietnam within 15 days. All other citizens are required to get an entry visa before departure or a pre-approved entry visa (visa is issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam.
Q:14. What about Single/multies entry?
A.14: Multiple is interpreted as multiple entries, not multiple applicants. Multiple entries means you are allowed to enter / exit Vietnam multiple times within a given period of time (1, 3 or 6 months). For example: 6 month multiple entry visa means – you are allowed to enter / exit Vietnam multitple times from the intended date of arrival provided plus 6 calendar consecutive months.
Q:15. Vietnam entry visas ?

- No Vietnamese entry visa required for travelers less than 30 days: Citizens of Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Laos. Please note that citizens of Myanmar & Timor Leste are required visa to Vietnam.
- No Vietnam entry visa required for travelers less than 15 days: Citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. From 1 Jan 2009, Russian passport holders are not required visa to Vietnam for 15days if having return tickets.
- No visa required for travelers less than 90 days or several visits within 6 months: Citizens of France holding valid diplomatic or official passports.
- No Vietnam entry visa required for travel less than 60 days: Citizens of Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports.
- No Vietnam entry visa required for travel less than 60 days: APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies.
- No Vietnam entry visa for traveling to PhuQuoc Island – Vietnam : Foreigners and Vietnamese nationals bearing foreign passports who enter Vietnam through an international border gate and then travel to PhuQuoc Island and stay in PhuQuoc less than 15 days will also be exempt from Vietnam visa application. Passports must be valid for at least 45 days. After arriving in PhuQuoc Island, if visitors want to travel other localities or stay in the island for more than 15 days, the immigration department will be responsible for issuing visas right on the spot.

Q:16. Vietnam Currency ?
A.16: The currency is Dong (VND). Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the bank, exchange bureau or hotel reception desk. Traveler cheques and most of credit cards are accepted in the most of hotels and in the major cities. But we recommend you to bring with you some cash.
Small bank notes and coins: 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 VN Dong.
Bank notes: 10.000, 20.000, 50.000, 100.000, 500.000 VN Dong.

This is what you need to enter and stay in Vietnam within a short period! Normally, it is available for one-month single-entry visa (maximum stay in Vietnam for one month). Tourist visa may be extended once for 30 days after your arrival in Vietnam. If you plan to spend more than a month in Vietnam, or if you plan to exit Vietnam and re-enter from other countries, for eg., Cambodia, Laos or China, you will need a three-month multiple-entry visa with approval from local agents.
Diplomatic and Official Visas
- No fees unless otherwise agreed upon between Vietnam and applicant’s country
- On applying for this visa, the applicant must submit an official letter from the concerned agencies of local government, foreign embassies or consulates accredited to the applicant’s country, international organizations, or other accredited organizations based in that country
Business Visa
Business visas are usually valid for three or six months, allowing multiple entries and the right to work in Vietnam. One-year business visas are also possible with special permission. To get a business visa, you often need a letter from a business sponsor in Vietnam. Getting a business visa has now become cheap and easy, although prices almost double those of a tourist visa. It is generally easier to apply for a business visa once in Vietnam, after having arrived with a tourist visa.
Student visa
A student visa is usually arranged after your arrival. It’s acceptable to enter Vietnam on a tourist visa, enroll in a Vietnamese language course and then apply at the immigration department for a change in your visa status. In reality, the easiest way to do this is to contact a travel company and have them help you make the application.
Extended Visa vs. non-extended Visa (In terms of extension times)
If you’ve got the dollars, they’ve got the rubber stamp. If you need to stay some more time out of your visa validity, you can get the Immigration Dept extend your visa. Tourist-visa extension costs only around US$10, but it is easier to pay more and sort this out through a travel agency in a more simple way. Getting the stamp you can be a bureaucratic nightmare. The procedure takes two or three days and you can only extend once for 30 days. In theory, you should be able to extend your visa in any provincial capital. In reality, it goes most smoothly in major cities, such as HCMC, Hanoi, Danang and Hue, which cater to mass tourism.
Single Entry Visa vs. Multiple entry (or Re-Entry) Visa (In terms of entry times)
It’s possible to visit Cambodia, Laos or any other country from Vietnam and then re- enter Vietnam without having to apply for another visa. However, you must apply for a re-entry visa before you leave Vietnam. If you do not have a re-entry visa, you will have to go through the whole Vietnamese visa procedure again. Re-entry visas are easiest to arrange in Hanoi or Hochiminh City, but you will almost certainly have to ask a travel agent to do the paperwork for you. They charge about US$25 for this service and can complete the procedure in a day or two.
Q:19. How long is my US passport valid?
A.19: If your US passport was issued when you were 16 years old or older, your passport is valid for 10 years. If your US passport was issued when you were 15 years old or younger, your passport is valid for 5 years.
Q:20. When applying for a US passport renewal, will my old passport be returned to me?
A.20: Yes, your old US passport will be returned unless it is deemed to be damaged by the United States Department of State. The passport will clearly indicate that it is invalid and it is important that you advise whether any valid visas remain in the passport before applying for it to be renewed.
Q:21. Do my children require US passports?
A.21: Yes. Each individual citizen, including infants, must possess his or her own passport. You are not allowed to represent other members of the family inside your passport. Q:22. What is a passport authorization letter?
A.22: A passport authorization letter is a letter that authorizes Visa Vietnam Group to act as your representative when submitting your passport application. The United States Passport Agency requires that you sign this letter before they will release your new or updated passport to us once your order is complete.
Q:23. What does Personal Appearance mean?
A.23: Some consulates require you to appear in person at the consulate to apply for your visa. This may be done just to verify your identity or conduct a formal interview. In these cases, you must submit your visa application directly to the consulate. Visa Vietnam Group can collect your completed visa from the consulate however, we cannot submit your order on your behalf.
Q:24. I am a student who wants to study in a foreign country. Do I need a visa?
A.24: Yes. Almost all countries require students to acquire a student visa before entering that country for educational purposes. Please see the visa information page for the specific country to determine student visa requirements for each country.
Q:25. What are the passport requirements for children who reside with guardians other than their natural parents?
A.25: There are additional legal requirements for children who are in the care of, or are placed with, foster parents or legal guardians. All children 15 years old or younger must have an adult sign their child passport application, regardless of circumstance. Q:26. I want to work in a foreign country. Do I need a visa?
A.26: Yes. All countries require special work permits and work visas for foreigners wishing to work in that country. Please see the visa information page for the specific country to determine work visa requirements for each country.
Q:27. What about return / onward flights?
A.27: The online check-in system will allow you to check in for all eligible flights scheduled to depart within 36 hours of the time you use online check-in. If your return or onward flights are scheduled to depart within 36 hours of your outbound flight, then the online system will allow you to check in for these flights. If any of your flights are scheduled to depart more than 36 hours after your outbound flight, you will need to repeat the online check-in process for those flights closer to the scheduled departure time.
Please note if your return/onward flight departs outside of the 36-hour window from an airport where online check-in is not currently offered, you will need to follow normal check-in procedures for that flight at the main Visa Vietnam Group desk.
